Brown Sugar & Vanilla Body Butter is a barrier-repair body cream for dry to very dry skin, formulated with 3% cupuaçu seed butter, 3% mango seed butter, 4% niacinamide, and a three-pathway ceramide system at ~9% combined. pH 4.8 — aligned with the skin's acid mantle. Visible softening on rough patches within a week of nightly use; sustained barrier repair over four to six weeks.

A rich, cushiony cream that meets the skin and then disappears into it. Brown sugar and vanilla, warm and quiet, settle on the skin for an hour after application.

How the formula works

Cupuaçu and mango butters (6% combined) sit at the heart of the lipid layer — cupuaçu binds water into the skin at unusually high levels for a plant butter, and mango softens without weight.

Three pathways to ceramide repair. The barrier is held together by ceramides — the lipid mortar between skin cells — and dryness, weather, and over-cleansing thin it down. This formula rebuilds it from three angles at once:

  • Skin-identical ceramides NP, AP, EOP, NG, and NS (via Ceracare), the same five ceramide species the skin makes for itself
  • A phytosphingosine and cholesterol-supported ceramide system (via FSS Ceramide Complex), which mirrors the cholesterol–fatty-acid–ceramide ratio of healthy skin
  • Plant-derived oat ceramides from 7% Avena sativa kernel oil, alongside the linoleic acid and phytosterols the skin uses to build its own

4% niacinamide is a performance dose. It refines uneven tone, strengthens the barrier alongside the ceramides, and reduces the look of texture over time.

0.5% panthenol and 0.3% allantoin calm reactive skin and support visible recovery on flaky, irritated patches.

Built at pH 4.8. Healthy skin sits between 4.5 and 5.5. Formulating in that band keeps the acid mantle intact, supports the resident microbiome that protects the barrier, and lets the actives work without disrupting the ecosystem they were chosen to repair.

How do I use it?

Massage into clean skin, dry or slightly damp, until fully absorbed. Use nightly, especially after bathing. Press extra into elbows, knees, heels, and anywhere the cold has left a chalky finish.

Who is this for?

Made for dry to very dry skin, mature skin, weather-stressed skin, and compromised or eczema-prone barriers. Safe during pregnancy and nursing. Fragranced — patch test on broken skin or for those with sensitivities to cinnamon-family aromatics before full use. Not formulated for the face.

What is not in this formula

No parabens, no sulfates, no phthalates, no silicones, no essential oils, no drying alcohol, no mineral oil.

The texture

A rich, cushiony cream that melts on contact and finishes velvety, never tacky.

The scent

Warm brown sugar and vanilla. Soft, close to the skin, not sweet enough to read as dessert. It lingers for about an hour, then settles into the lipid layer and quiets.

Is this body butter safe to use during pregnancy and nursing?

Yes. Every ingredient in this formula was selected with pregnancy and nursing safety in mind. No retinoids, no salicylic acid, no essential oils, no synthetic fragrance. The botanicals are food-grade-adjacent — cupuaçu butter, mango butter, oat oil, niacinamide, panthenol, allantoin. The fragrance is a 2% blend of brown sugar, fig, and French vanilla aroma compounds, IFRA Category 5A compliant at 5.3% of the allowable ceiling. Used as directed, this body butter is safe throughout pregnancy and nursing.

What fragrance allergens are in this body butter?

The Brown Sugar & Fig + French Vanilla blend contains four EU-declared fragrance allergens above the 0.001% leave-on threshold: cinnamal, limonene, benzyl alcohol, and linalool. Vanillin is also disclosed proactively, ahead of expanded EU allergen rules taking effect in 2026–2028. All five appear on the INCI list at the end of the ingredient deck. If you have a known fragrance allergy, check those names against your sensitivity profile before use.

How is this different from a body lotion?

A body lotion is mostly water with a thin oil phase — fast absorption, light finish, lower lipid load. This is a body butter: 22% lipid phase (cupuaçu, mango butter, fractionated coconut, oat oil, isoamyl laurate), 1.5% ceramide complex, 4% niacinamide, 5% glycerin, formulated at pH 4.8. Thicker texture, slower melt, deeper barrier reinforcement. Made for skin that needs more than a lotion can carry — after a shower, after sun, after the seasons turn dry.

When will I see results?

Surface softness is immediate — the cupuaçu and mango butter, the oat oil, the isoamyl laurate. Barrier change is gradual. With twice-daily use, most users notice less tightness and more bounce within seven to ten days. The ceramide system rebuilds the lipid lamellae over three to four weeks. Niacinamide softens uneven tone over four to six weeks. Slow and accumulating, not dramatic.

Can I use this on my face?

We don't recommend it. The body butter is formulated at 22% lipid phase for body skin — thicker, slower to absorb, and richer than facial skin needs. For the face, reach for Tremella Wai Face Cream or Nourish Nectar Facial Serum. Both are calibrated to facial barrier physiology and to the actives that work there.
